Devonport High School for Boys

“Devonport High School for Boys is delighted to have been adopted by Building Plymouth as part of the scheme. We have already utilised this link to improve our employer engagement; for instance having an architect come into school to talk to our Y8 about his role, and linking this with a current scheme of work in their Art lessons. These real world links are increasingly important for students facing an overwhelming amount of choice – firstly over exam options and then post 16 or 18 alternatives, and it is also important to dispel assumptions about the construction sector generally, with the majority of roles available locally in the next ten years being professional, such as quantity surveying, civil engineering or indeed architecture.
