Get ready for Building Plymouth Construction Apprentice of the Year awards 2021 and National Apprenticeship Week
Once again it’s almost time to announce the names of the finalists, highly commended and winners of the Building Plymouth Construction Apprentice of the Year awards 2021.
We’ll be announcing the results this Wednesday 10 February, during this year’s National Apprenticeship Week
Whilst we’d usually make the announcement at our annual Jobs Fair event, we’re still taking part in this year’s virtual NAW21 and have a brand-new list of amazing apprenticeships currently available in and around Plymouth to highlight the brilliant opportunities available across a wide selection of industries to people of any age seeking to start their career as an apprentice.
Celebrating our local apprentices
These annual awards recognise the importance of the construction and built environment industry for Plymouth and the part that employers and their apprentices play in ‘Building Plymouth’. The awards also seek to acknowledge the apprentice’s exceptional contribution to their workplace and appreciate their commitment to the Apprenticeship experience.
There are two overall winners in the Building Plymouth awards – a Trade Construction Apprentice of the Year and a Technical Construction Apprentice of the Year. Ron Simmonds was a former Alderman and Mayor of the City and trained as an apprentice bricklayer – the trade trophy pays tribute to the contribution he has made to Plymouth. The technical shield was added in 2017 to celebrate the technical and higher-level apprentices within construction and the built environment in Plymouth.
Celebrating Construction and Manufacturing
On Wednesday 10 February we’ll also be announcing the finalists, highly commended and winners of the Plymouth Manufacturers’ Group (PMG) Apprenticeship awards too, as we join with them once again to celebrate the contribution apprentices are making to Plymouth’s growing industries.
If you’d like to join the event please email Charlotte.Smith@plymouth.gov.uk who will be able to share the MS Teams link with you.
