Educators

The Building Plymouth partnership believes it’s vital to increase awareness of career opportunities in construction and the built environment with the next generation. To do this, we’ve joined forces with many great schools in the city to help us to spread the word. Let’s work together to transform the prospects for the city’s next generation of construction personnel.

The world of construction and education

As a city, the Building Plymouth Adopt a School’ programme is designed to engage, inspire and educate the future generation on the interesting world of construction. With STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) becoming an increasingly important part of the curriculum, we want to show how STEM topics and construction go together in the real world.

Bringing the world of construction to life

Construction is an exciting industry which needs to be celebrated. To encourage both primary and secondary students, Building Plymouth worked alongside The Box and Arts University of Plymouth for STEAMfest 2025 – Mission Mammoth. The challenge which over 400 primary school – was to build a new landmark for Plymouth so Mildred the existing Mammoth exhibition in The Box can invite all her friends and visitors across the work to Plymouth – Making life an adventure. Through a series of activities centred around learning about mammoths, sustainability, shape and measure and landscaping and working with over 80 construction friends they found out all they needed to know to do this.
