Building Plymouth Work Experience Programme grows again in 2025
Started in 2023 the Building Plymouth work experience programme was delivered in partnership with The Focus Training Group and saw 10 students from Eggbuckland Community College attend the training centre for a week of activities.
The programme was started to help the large number of students from secondary schools across the city access a meaningful work experience week focussed on construction.
This year we have been able to work in collaboration with three other Plymouth training providers and Building Plymouth members City College Plymouth, Greenlight Safety and Training and Skills Group to accommodate 42 students from Eggbuckland Community College, Plymstock School, Coombe Dean, Tor Bridge High and Ivybridge Community College.
The students had a fun packed week getting hands on experience on construction trades such as carpentry, plastering, bricklaying, plumbing as well as having an insight into the technical side of construction with a preview of the City College Plymouth T Level programme.
This year we also were able to offer a trip to two live sites – Langage hosted by Devon Contractors and also Sherford which gave them a fantastic
We are hoping to grow the programme again this year working with technical and consultancy employers to open up the office based roles that are available.
