See Plymouth’s growth first-hand: Open sites week 2026 (520)

Building Plymouth is once again inviting local people to step inside the city’s biggest construction and development projects as Open Sites Week returns this March, proudly aligned with National Careers Week 2026.

Throughout the week, visitors will be able to explore a wide range of live construction sites and professional practices shaping Plymouth’s future. This year’s programme includes fifteen diverse locations, from major healthcare and infrastructure projects to eco-conscious housing developments, training centres and design studios.

Open Sites Week offers a rare chance to meet the teams delivering Plymouth’s growth, discover the skills used on site and behind the scenes, and experience the scale of investment currently transforming the city.

Designed for students, job seekers, career changers, schools, families and local residents, the event demonstrates the breadth of opportunities available across construction and the built environment—from demolition and civil engineering to digital design, architecture and specialist consultancy.

Morven Maclean, Construction Coordinator for Building Plymouth, said: “Building Plymouth Open Sites Week is one of our signature annual events, and we are thrilled to be opening up so many fascinating projects. This week highlights not only the wide range of trades and on site roles, but also the technical and consultancy opportunities available across the sector. Through this year’s programme, we are delighted to showcase some of the city’s major infrastructure projects, including the new accident and emergency department at Derriford Hospital, the 10 Dock development with Babcock, and the city centre regeneration work. This week plays a vital role in bringing construction to life!”
