HLM Architects are passionate about retaining a strong regional presence across their 7 studios locations in London, Sheffield, Glasgow, Belfast, Cardiff, Dublin and Plymouth but pride themselves on their ability to work internationally.

HLM Architects adopt a sector led approach, meaning clients benefit from working with teams who have specific knowledge, insight and experience in the required sector, these include Higher education, Schools and colleges, Healthcare, Residential, Regeneration, Hospitality, Leisure culture and community, Workplace, Defence, Justice and Emergency Services.

From designing inclusively for individual wellbeing to masterplanning healthy cities; as a multi-disciplinary, cross-sector practice we consider our impact from micro to macro, local to global. We don’t shy away from challenging sectors or projects. We see them as opportunities to co-create meaningful, lasting impact; responding to the challenges of today while anticipating the needs of tomorrow.

We are supporting Building Plymouth because its mission aligns closely with our commitment to strengthening local communities, developing regional talent, and creating meaningful, place-based design solutions. As one of the few UK architectural practices with studios across every region of the UK and Ireland, HLM is deeply rooted in the places where we work, and we are passionate about contributing positively to the communities we serve.

Becoming an Employee Ownership Trust in 2020 reinforced our commitment to keeping our practice grounded in local people. It enables us to grow by creating equitable opportunities, improving social mobility, and nurturing talent within the regions we operate in. We also champion a diverse and local supply chain, collaborating with businesses and social enterprises to support wider economic growth.

Having re-established our presence in Plymouth, we are excited to actively support and sponsor Building Plymouth. The initiative reflects our values, developing skills, opening pathways into the built environment sector, and helping individuals build rewarding careers.
